Shiba Inu Team Issues Warning After $20 Million Crypto Liquidation Wave

  • SHIB suffered over $20 million in liquidations, with long positions losing $12.9 million.
  • Bullish bets outnumber bearish positions 2.71 to 1, increasing liquidation risks.
  • SHIB recorded 92.07 billion net exchange inflows, raising concerns about potential selling pressure.

Shiba Inu traders face another warning as market pressure builds across SHIB futures markets. More than $20 million in positions disappeared within 24 hours. Long traders suffered most, absorbing nearly $12.9 million in liquidations. Meanwhile, bullish bets continue to dominate bearish positions. This imbalance raises concerns about another potential sell-off. The Shiba Inu team now urges traders to approach the market carefully.

Heavy Long Liquidations Raise Concerns for SHIB Traders

The Shiba Inu team highlighted rising liquidation risks through a recent market update. Futures data showed approximately $20 million in SHIB liquidations. Long positions accounted for $12.9 million of that amount. Short traders lost roughly $7 million during the same period. Bullish positions still outweigh bearish bets by 2.71 to 1. This imbalance leaves SHIB vulnerable to further liquidation pressure. Another price decline could force leveraged traders to close positions.

Such forced selling could accelerate downward momentum. Trading activity also reveals an important difference between futures and spot markets. Futures volume reached $49.3 million within 24 hours. Spot trading volume remained considerably lower at $10.8 million. Therefore, derivatives activity exceeded direct token trading by roughly 4.5 times.

This suggests leveraged speculation currently drives much of SHIB’s market activity. Even modest price movements could trigger additional liquidations. The team also repeated calls for stronger bullish participation and token burns. The message echoed earlier community discussions from August. However, current market conditions demand more than optimistic sentiment.

92 Billion SHIB Net Inflow Adds Selling Pressure

Exchange flows provide another reason for caution among SHIB holders. The team reported 324.28 billion SHIB entering exchanges within 24 hours. Meanwhile, withdrawals reached approximately 232.21 billion tokens. That difference produced a net inflow of 92.07 billion SHIB. Rising exchange balances can increase potential selling pressure. Traders can move deposited tokens directly into exchange order books. Self-custodied tokens require additional transfers before holders can sell.

Therefore, exchange inflows help measure potential selling readiness. However, incoming tokens do not automatically translate into actual sales. The current inflow also remains smaller than June’s major whale movement. Large holders transferred approximately 1.04 trillion SHIB to exchanges that month. The latest figures represent a considerably smaller supply shift. SHIB also faces broader weakness after losing roughly half its value. Declining Shibarium activity adds another concern for organic network demand.

Together, these factors complicate the token’s recovery prospects. For now, derivatives traders appear to influence short-term price movements. Weak spot participation offers limited support against liquidation-driven volatility. Upcoming exchange flows will reveal whether holders continue depositing SHIB. Traders should watch liquidation levels, futures positioning, and exchange balances closely. These indicators could reveal whether selling pressure intensifies or gradually fades.

A short squeeze rebound may occur at year-end, but the rebound could also present a selling opportunity.
